Chinese is the most beautiful language in the world and classical reading is a significant way to boost students’ comprehensive qualities. However, how to enable students to fall in love with classics and reading? I figure recitation can help them transit from the world of sound to literary and artistic works.
So as to let students feel the significance of languages as well as the charm of sound at short range, on the afternoon of 13th October, at the first-floor Lecture Hall, Anqing Foreign Language School’s Junior High Department of the west campus held a seminar on classics reading. More noticeably, we specially invited teacher Ye Zhenlin to be the keynote speaker, who graduated from Communication University of China and had many years’ experience in broadcasting and hosting. More than 200 students from Anqing Foreign Language School attended the lecture.
To start with, Mr. Ye introduced to students the differences between reading and recitation. Afterwards, he explained the characteristics of recitation in terms of artistry and performability. During the seminar, teacher Ye Zhenlin pointed out that brilliant reciters were supposed to experience the connotation of works, display works from within instead of just simply reading out loud. On the other hand, eligible reciters should try to figure out the text contents and revealing emotions between the lines in addition to realizing the resonance with the audience by means of sound.
What’s more, teacher Ye Zhenlin demonstrated a great many classic lines and poetry works, which aroused students’ keen interest and lit their enthusiasm in classics reciting. Some students could not control their feelings but read aloud with Mr. Ye and imitated his performance, having fun obviously, which won round after round of enthusiastic applause and cheers in the School Lecture Hall. At the end of the seminar, teacher Ye Zhenlin shared his experience and methods concerning recitation and speeches as well as offered guidance and suggestions.
In conclusion, in spite of being a special extracurricular activity, this lecture not only provided students with plenty of knowledge in a comfortable and joyous atmosphere, but also enabled them to feel the infinite fascination of classic reading. Moreover, this marvelous event aimed to lead students to attach great importance to classics reciting, acquaint themselves with language arts from deeper level in addition to further advancing students’ comprehensive accomplishments.
